community guidelines

The hushri community is a calm, moderated space for adults who find the world too loud. These guidelines are the rules for taking part. They apply to every post, reply and profile, and joining the community means agreeing to them.

Last updated: 27 August 2026

who can join

The community is for adults aged 18 or over. It is free to join, and it stays free: supporting hushri financially does not buy a place here and never will. One account per person, under a name you are happy to be known by. If you are under 18, please do not create an account, and please ask a parent or carer to read the guides with you instead.

what belongs here

Your own experience, in your own words. Quiet wins, hard days, what helped, what did not, questions you have not been able to ask anywhere else. Kindness costs nothing here and is the whole point of the place. If you are replying to someone, reply to the person, not to the diagnosis you think they have.

what does not belong here

  • Abuse, harassment, threats, or contacting someone who has asked you to stop.
  • Hate directed at anyone for who they are, including disability, race, religion, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
  • Diagnosing anyone, telling anyone to stop or start a medication, or presenting yourself as a clinician when you are not.
  • Detailed description of suicide, self-harm or disordered eating, including methods. If you are struggling with any of these, please see the support section below, and know that we would rather you were safe than posting.
  • Sharing anyone's private information, photographs or messages without their agreement, including your own children's.
  • Selling, promoting, recruiting, or posting the same thing repeatedly.
  • Anything unlawful, and anything sexual.

reporting something

Every post and reply carries a report control. Use it whenever something breaks these guidelines, or simply sits wrong with you. A report goes straight to the moderation queue and is read by a human. You do not have to explain yourself well, or at all, and the person you report is never told who reported them.

If something needs attention urgently, or you would rather not use the in-community control, use the contact form and begin your message with "community report".

blocking someone

You can block any other member from their post or reply. Blocking hides their posts and replies from you, hides yours from them, and stops them replying to you. It takes effect immediately, needs no reason, and is not announced to them. You can undo it at any time from your profile.

what happens after a report

Reports are reviewed as quickly as we reasonably can, by hushri's own moderators. Depending on what we find, we may leave the content as it is, remove it, ask the person to change how they are posting, pause their account, or close it. Anything that appears to put someone in immediate danger, or that looks like a criminal offence, is dealt with first and may be passed to the appropriate authorities.

If we act on your account and you think we have it wrong, use the contact form and a person will look again.

if you are struggling right now

hushri is not a crisis service, and the community is not a substitute for one. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. You can call Samaritans free, at any hour, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258. There is no shame in any of those numbers, and the people who answer them want you to ring.

your information

What we hold when you have an account, how long we keep it, and how to get a copy or close your account, is set out in our privacy notice. You can download everything we hold and delete your account yourself, at any time, from your membership page.

changes to these guidelines

We will update this page as the community grows, and change the date above when we do. If a change is significant, we will say so in the community itself rather than hoping you notice.
